August Wine Tour and Distillery Tour Photos

We had a great time on our 2015 Distillery Tour and learned a lot about Texas Spirits. It was good to see the familiar faces of our bus tour regulars and meet some new fans as well. Thanks to Rudy’s Country Store and Bar-B-Q for the breakfast tacos to start the day! Also, a big shout out to Garrison Brothers, Cypress Creek, and Deep Eddy for hosting us and then Brewster’s for lunch! Fun times as always.

Our next adventure is a End of Summer Wine Tour! Join us as we tour and taste our way around some of the best wineries west of Austin and in the Hill Country. Tickets are on sale now in the Daytripper General Store. This tour is already halfway sold out. We’d love to see you there!

Season 6 – Tomball!

In case you missed it, our Tomball episode aired in a few markets last week and on KLRU in Austin on Thursday. This was the winner of our Viewer’s Choice contest, so obviously you really want to watch this episode.

In this episode, Chet heads north of Houston to explore a town built along the railroad.  He visits its many historic sites and takes a flight on a WW2 B-17 “flying fortress” bomber.  To polish off the day, he attempts to eat a “Mega Mel” burger coming in a 1 1/2 feet tall.  Let’s hit the road or is that “rail-road!”

Be sure to tune into you local PBS station to watch.

You can also catch the show online. Check out our Tomball episode page for the link.

Don’t miss this episode as Chet heads to no-man’s land to canoe the “most pristine river in Texas.”  On this multi-day canoe trip, he fishes, camps on the banks of this beautiful blue river and learns what it takes to survive in the middle of nowhere. Let’s hit the road…or shall we say River!

Be sure to tune into you local PBS station to watch.

You can also catch the show online. Check out our Devils River episode page for the link.

Trippin’ with Best Western

We’re gonna take a moment here to REALLY thank one of our awesome new sponsors.  If you’ve been watching Season 6, you know that Best Western Hotels of Texas recently teamed up with us and it couldn’t be a better fit.  As you know, we LOVE traveling to small towns, and there’s a Best Western in almost every one.  In fact, there are 231 Best Westerns across the Lone Star State.  That’s a BUNCH!

For Seasons 1-5, we stayed at a number of Best Western Hotels, but now we get to stay at one on every shoot.  The free wi-fi is always awesome, and our new ritual is to have our breakfast meeting over their free breakfast buffet.  Because what’s a good night’s sleep if you don’t have a good breakfast to go along with it?

So, as you plan your trips, vacations, spring breaks or other roaming across Texas, be sure to include Best Western in those plans.  We truly appreciate our sponsors, and literally wouldn’t have a show without them.  Thank you Best Western.

Here’s the spot we made for them.

Here’s us at our breakfast meeting in Schulenburg.

Season 6 – Grapevine

In case you missed it, we celebrated Christmas in October!! Say what?!? Actually, we went to Grapevine on the Daytripper. Known as the Christmas Capital of Texas, we catch the spirt of the season. All along main street, in a local winery, and in the ice sculptures and snow hills of a local resort. We eat some Chili to stay warm, and then catch a train bound for the North Pole.  Let’s his the road and get in the Christmas spirit early.

Be sure to tune into you local PBS station to watch. You can also catch the show online. Check out our Grapevine episode page for the link. Thanks for watching!

Team Daytripper – MS 150

Hey Daytrippers, tomorrow is the MS 150 and Team Daytripper is riding again! This is a fun event for a great cause. There will be a group of over 12,000 riders biking from Houston to Austin over 2 days. This is an incredible opportunity to be a part of finding a cure for Multiple Sclerosis.

Until just a couple years ago, multiple sclerosis (“MS”) was a completely foreign disease to me.  However, I have been blessed with a brother-in-law and one of our producer’s wife who suffer from MS.  I have seen the daily effects and am honored to stand beside them in finding a life-saving cure.  The research is closer than ever and we can all be a part of it.  I’m also proud to say that my brother-in-law will again be riding with our team, which has doubled in size from last year!

This is going to be a fun event. If you are in the Houston area, we’d love to have you at one of the starting points to cheer the riders on as we start our journey. The ride kicks off in 3 locations – Tully Stadium in Houston, TX, Rhodes Stadium in Katy, TX and Waller Stadium in Waller, TX. If you are in the Austin area, we’d love to have you join us at the finish line to celebrate. We will arrive in Austin next to the Texas State Capitol. Events will be held there and the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum. Come on out and be a part of the celebration.

In addition to coming out for the event, please consider supporting my team on this ride, or anyone else you know that is riding. It’s going to be an EPIC year for the MS150 and I want you to be a part of it.

Thank you for your support and encouragement!
