Welcome to our new website!

You may have noticed that we’ve given our website a bit of a facelift. Okay, a really big facelift!

First thing you’ll notice on our homepage are featured stories on our “carousel.” Here you’ll find our latest daytrips and news on the show. As well on our homepage you’ll see a live-stream from our Facebook page and our Twitter account. If you haven’t followed us on either of those platforms, we invite you to do so. We use Facebook and Twitter to post real-time events and activities associated with the show.

Another great enhancement is overall navigation of the site. We’ve made finding the information you need easier and simpler without the need of a sextant or an advanced degree in cartography by centralizing all of our episodes onto the “DAYTRIPS” page/tab. Click on an actual day-trip location and you’ll find all the info you need on that specific trip, including locations featured on the show, the actual episode, a map of the area and some behind the scenes photos from the shoot. As well, you’ll get more recommendations to similar “DAYTRIPS” with “RELATED BLOG POSTS” and “MORE DAYTRIPS” on the local “DAYTRIPS” page.

And the biggest thing of all – we’ve integrated social media into every page, so be sure to share your thoughts via Facebook and post a Tweet, now all easily accessible from one page.

Special thanks to Libby Peterek, Jesse Overright, and Brionne Griffin at KLRU who helped us with the entire re-design and overhaul of our site. And thanks to Bill Stotesbery and Maury Sullivan at KLRU for supporting this project.

We’ll be working hard to bring you new blog posts from our team as we film new episodes and we’ll feature stories that we believe are important to you.

If you have any feedback on the website be sure to post your comments via Facebook or Twitter below.

Season 4 Tour

Well, the time has come to launch our fourth season of the show. And there’s no better way to get into the action by joining us on our “Cans for Q: Four for Four Tour” in which we’ll be making stops at 4 different Rudy’s locations throughout Texas.

So here’s the plan. Just bring in a canned good (or a couple) and we’ll trade it for a 1/4 lb. of  Rudy’s brisket. Sound like a deal? Heck yeah!

Join us at the following Rudy’s locations:

Tuesday, October 9 @ 6:30 PM – Rudy’s Denton. RSVP here.

Wednesday, October 10 @ 7:00 PM – Rudy’s Austin 360. RSVP here.

Thursday, October 11 @ 6:30 PM – Rudy’s New Braunfels. RSVP here.

Friday, October 12 @ 6:30 PM – Rudy’s Houston I45S/NASA. RSVP here.

We hope to see you at one of our stops!

Season 4 Sponsors

You hear it at the beginning and ending of every episode… “The Daytripper is brought to you by…”

But what do those words really mean?

In all fairness, it means that these proud supporters provide us with the financial resources and tools to make what you see on the screen actually possible. Producing a travel show like ours requires a lot and this season we raised the bar even higher with a goal of producing 13 episodes instead of 10. We asked our sponsors “CAN WE DO PRODUCE 13 SHOWS THIS SEASON?” and they responded by saying, “YES!”

So what does it actually take to make a show?

First, it takes a crew and for the past three seasons we’ve paid many of them in bar-b-q. This season we’re happy to announce that we have three full time employees, housed in an office, and that would not have been possible with our sponsors support.

Second, it takes resources, like fuel, food and equipment. We burn and churn through a lot of fuel when we’re out on the road, days at a time, and again, we couldn’t do it without our sponsors support.

Third, it takes money. By the time our show ends up on your screen, whether on your TV, your computer or mobile device, thousands of dollars have been spent making the best show possible with every available resource we have and here’s the best part – it comes at no cost to you or your local Texas PBS station.

So, when you hear those words again, “The Daytripper is brought to you by…” be sure to clap until your hands fall off, and be sure say thank you to each and every one of our sponsors by supporting their businesses – because when you support them, you support us. We could not do what we do without their backing and we are incredibly blessed to have them.

Please help us welcome our proud and generous Season 4 sponsors!
