We had a great time on our BBQ Bus tour! Lots of full stomachs and happy faces along the way…not to mention the food comas. Huge thanks to Hwy 29 BBQ, Cooper’s BBQ, Opie’s BBQ and the Bluebonnet Cafe for great food and Texas hospitality.

Trippin’ with Chet: North Texas Wine Tour

Finally – We are very excited to announce our next “Trippin’ with Chet” tour happening on Saturday, October 4, 2014.

We had so much fun trippin’ and sippin’ wine in the Texas Hill Country, that we decided it would be a BLAST to sample the wine from another region of Texas.  So, we’re headed to Grapevine (and beyond) to see what sorts of wine this part of Texas is turning out.

Join us as we spend a fun-filled day exploring North Texas Wineries!  We’ll be leaving out of Grapevine for a full day of adventure and visiting FOUR Texas wineries across the Metroplex.  Throw in some BBQ, our crew, some shenanigans and surprises (of course), and this is sure to be an AMAZING day.

Tickets are $199 each which includes all transportation, all food, all tours, wine at each location, fun, games, and DAYTRIPPER-ific memories.  See you there!

Get your ticket in The Daytripper General Store.

If you’ll be driving in and need a place to stay, we’ve got an excellent group rate of $69/night at Best Western Plus near Grapevine.  Call them at (972) 870-0530 and mention “Daytripper” to get the rate.

Trippin’ SA Bus Tour

We had a great time last weekend trippin’ with a group of fans to San Antonio! Hanging with Daytrippers is a great way to spend a Saturday! We headed out with full stomachs thanks to Rudy’s Country Store and Bar-B-Q. This trip had a mix of stops from our San Antonio episode and a few other locations as well.

We started out visiting Mission San Jose and Mission Conception with a guided tour from Park Ranger extraordinaire, Tatum Weeks. There’s a lot of history to learn about the Missions. Next stop lunch…seriously…a Daytripper Bus Tour wouldn’t be legit without plenty of food and the folks over at El Mirador did not disappoint. Classic Tex-Mex and margaritas hit the spot. They recently got a nod from Texas Monthly in the article, “Southtown and Down.”

After a morning outside and a heavy meal, the group was ready for some time inside and what better way to learn more about this great state than a stop at the Institute of Texas Cultures. Not only is this part of UTSA but it is associated with the Smithsonian Institute as well. A few of us wandered over to La Villita for some shopping and watched Chet try to lasso a few Daytrippers. Last stop of the day was Beethoven Maennerchor where we enjoyed some German beer, great German food and learned a few new German drinking songs. Fun way to end the day in San Antonio.

But there was one more surprise on the way home, these Trippers got a sneak peek of Season 6 by watching the first episode of the new season premiering in October. We are excited about this new season and there are some cool episodes and adventures in store.

We had a great day in San Antonio and look forward to more Daytripper bus trips in the future. In fact, mark your calendars for October 4. We will be doing a North Texas Wine Tour trip out of Grapevine. Seats go on sale on Monday!!

Until then, have a great weekend, hit the road for a Daytrip before school starts on Monday and “Vaya Con Dios!”

Fredericksburg Wine Tour

We had a great time on our recent bus trip through part of the Fredericksburg Wine Country. Big thank to Ernie and his team at the Fredericksburg Convention and Visitors Bureau for helping to set this up. Everyone had a great time sampling wine, eating great food and visiting the Nimitz museum as well. Thanks to all the places we stopped along the way:

Fredericksburg is a great place to visit with plenty to do for everyone. For more ideas on where to go, check out our Fredericksburg episode.

Be sure to visit our website and subscribe to our newsletter to stay informed on more tours! Currently, we have a few seats (less than 10!) available for our San Antonio tour. Check out our site for more information and we hope to see you on the bus!

Burnet Bus Trip

http://www.toddwhite.org
What do you call 50 daytrippers on a bus, cruising the Hill Country, eating BBQ, and stomping through caves?  A DANG GOOD TIME.
A few weeks ago, I had the privilege of leading a bus tour to Burnet, Texas.  We stopped at the eagle’s nest on Hwy 29 between Burnet and Llano, we ate BBQ at the Burnet Feed Store, we sampled wine at Perissos Vineyards, and then capped it off with a tour and dinner at Longhorn Cavern State Park.  It was an incredible time.  I’m always amazed at how fun the folks are that watch our program.  And I think I end up having just as much fun (or more) than they do.
Below are some pictures from the day.
