Fall Festivals & Pumpkin Patches!

It’s fall in Texas, which means at some point the weather will get cooler (maybe…), the leaves will turn bright orange and red, and the pumpkins will be ripe for picking. To get you in the fall mood and to celebrate all the season brings, here is a list of pumpkin patches and fall festivals around Texas!

The Maize – Lubbock, TX

Get lost in Lubbock, TX, at this Texas-sized maze made out of…you guessed it…MAIZE. The Maize at At’l Do Farms is opened daily excluding Mondays from Sept. 16 – Nov. 11. Besides wandering through the intricate corn maze, you can also take a horse ride, cuddle around the fire or shoot from the corn cannon! Oktoberfest Fort Worth – Fort Worth, TX

Celebrate Oktoberfest with the folks of Fort Worth on Sept. 21-23. Enjoy authentic German food like Schnitzel, Bavarian Pretzels and Sausage Plates at the Reata Haus Restaurant, drink German brews at the biergartens and register your fuzzy friend for the Dauchshund Dash! As always, there will be a ceremonial tapping of the kegs, live music and tons of fun!

 

Barton Hill Farms – Bastrop, TX

In Bastrop, TX, you’ll find a pumpkin-filled wonderland each Saturday and Sunday from Sept. 23 – Nov. 5 at Barton Hill Farms. Not only can you pick your perfect fall pumpkins, there are two-giant mazes (one for all ages and one just for kiddos), farm animals for petting, slides, rides and games, country music and more!

 

 

Autumn at the Arboretum – Dallas, TX

Break out the ruby red slippers and follow the “Yellow Brick Road” or, erm, pumpkin-decorated pathways through the Arboretum where this year’s theme is The Wonderful World of Oz. From Sept. 23 – Nov. 22, you can be whisked away to the enchanted land of Oz in this colorful creation made from thousands of pumpkins, squash, gourds and fall flowers!

 

 

Big Country Balloon Fest – Abilene, TX

There’s a high flying event in Abilene at the Big Country Balloon Fest on Sept. 29 – Oct. 1. Watch as dozens of colorful hot air balloons take flight during the day and light up in the Hot-Air Balloon Glow each night. There will also be all sorts of entertainment including pony rides, kite-making workshops, live music and more!

Oktoberfest – Fredericksburg, TX

Prost, y’all! Head to Fredericksburg to get your OOMPAH on at the 37th Annual Oktoberfest on Oct. 6-8. Along with the festival’s authentic German foods, biers and fun, there will also be an OkTUBAfest, a giant Chicken Dance event, live entertainment and so much more! Sweet Berry Farms – Marble Falls, TX

Find the perfect pumpkin at Sweet Berry Farms in Marble Falls which is opened daily from Sept. 23 – Nov. 5. Aside from having hundreds of pumpkins perfect for all your Jack-o-lantern, decorating and pie-making needs, you can also take part in the Candy Corn Maze, Pumpkin Painting activity, Scarecrow Stuffing and “Texas Maze!”

 

Surftoberfest – Corpus Christi, TX

In Corpus Christi’s Surftoberfest is still on — with all the fun of beer and the beach mixed into one on Oct. 7. But, this year, the proceeds will go towards the Port Aransas Education Foundation to help the non-profit foundation raise funds for education in towns hit by Harvey before Port Aransas schools start back up on October 16. So head to this event full of authentic German food and fun, and raise a glass to those who are rebuilding the Coastal Bend communities.

Mainstay Farm Pumpkin Days – Cleburne, TX

Celebrate fall in Cleburne, TX, with Mainstay Farm Pumpkin Days each weekend from Sept. 23 – Oct. 29 where you can go pumpkin picking, ride through the farm on a Hayride, find your way through multiple mazes, shoot fruit through the apple blaster and more! And it’s worth noting that the last Saturday of the season is “Pumpkin Smashing Saturday” when leftover pumpkins are sent flying through the air where they splatter against a wall.

 

 

Dewberry Farm – Brookshire, TX

Join the family tradition and enjoy all the fall festivities in Brookshire, TX, each weekend from Sept. 30 – Nov. 12 at Dewberry Farm. For the 17th year, Dewberry Farm is hosting its 8-acre corn maze filled with twist and turns, as well as a scavenger hunt of word puzzles! Fiddlesticks Farms – Midland, TX

Make your way to West Texas for an abundance of fall fun every weekend from Sept. 30 – Nov. 18! Fiddlesticks Farms has all kinds of fun activities to keep you entertained from pig races and milking demonstrations to hay rides and apple blasters! Don’t forget to attempt your way through the 15-acre Corn Maze and peruse the Pumpkin Patch.

 

 

Floydada Punkin Days – Floydada, TX

The Pumpkin Capital of Texas is at it again with the Floydada Punkin Days Festival on Oct. 14. Celebrate the pumpkin with a day of fun festivities including Arts & Crafts Booths, all the food you can handle, relay races, BBQ and Chili Cook-Offs and so much more!
