He’ll share some stories about making movies in Texas and what it was like to work with the likes of Hollywood greats like Robert Duvall and Michael Caine. This is going to be a very special afternoon. I can’t wait to see you guys there.

We always thought it would be fun to get folks together in a historic Texas theater and watch movies made here in the Lone Star State. Well, that dream is becoming reality. And the first film to kick it off will be Secondhand Lions shown in the historic Georgetown Palace.

So join me and crew on FEBRUARY 1, 2014 at 1pm to watch this family classic. Filmed in the Greater-Austin area, this film is about a young boy (Haley Joel Osment) who is left with his eccentric and supposedly wealthy uncles (Robert Duvall and Michael Caine) on their Texas farm. This begrudging relationship blossoms as the boy learns his uncles’ quirky ways and the truth about how they came upon their hidden millions.

Daytrippers!

I’ve got some exciting news. On Saturday, March 2, we are taking our second official “Day Trip with The Daytripper”. It’s a full-on day trip with ME embarking on an epic barbeque tour and I want YOU to come along for the ride.

We’ll be making stops at Snow’s BBQ, Southside Market and Louie Mueller BBQ. Pitmasters from each of these great Texas “Q” joints will be providing us with an exclusive behind the scenes tour on what makes their smoked meats so heavenly. And along the way we’ll be throwing in some surprises!

Tickets are $125 per person and includes transportation, food and non-alcoholic beverages during the tour. Tickets can be purchased by clicking on the “BUY NOW” button below. The tour will be departing from a central location in the Austin area around 8:30 AM in the morning and will return around 4:00 PM. Details will be emailed to all participants one week prior to the trip. All tickets are 100% non-refundable but are transferable to another person. Event will go on, rain or shine.

The inaugural MEAT UP was Awesome! We had about 80 hungry Daytrippers load up into two giant buses and head to Lockhart and Luling for some serious Bar-B-Q grub. I was too busy eating to take any pictures, but luckily lots of other folks did.

Who wants to Get Sauced?

It’s true, good BB-Q doesn’t require sauce. But sometimes – why deprive yourself of the delicious gloriousness that is BB-Q sauce. Eat it on meat. Sop it up with white bread. Chug it straight. I’m not gonna judge you. But on Saturday (8-27-11), I will be judging the sauce. And you should come along. THIS Saturday is Man Up Texas BBQ’s 2 Annual Gettin’ Sauced. It is the BB-Q sauce competition to end all BB-Q sauce competitions. And everyone gets to be a judge. I went to the 1st annual one last year, and it was a blast!

So this year, I’m super excited. Let the tongue numbing begin.

FINALE Party in Austin!

Well, Season Two is finally wrapping up in Austin. And what better way to send it out than with a day trip episode to Austin. And a party IN Austin. Read more for details.

The party will be an outdoor viewing party at Mueller Lake Park. Special thanks to Mueller for sponsoring our event. It is family-friendly and completely open to the public. So bring friends.
